Whiskey Black

I currently live in the bible belt and am the proud black(est) sheep of my conservative Southern Baptist family. Writing is a passion, but like all word ninjas I'm also passionate about procrastination.
Not ruled by reason, but fueled by passion, I'm a hippie anarchist with a fiercely loyal and intense romantic streak. I have a fiery temper that flares up quickly and burns out in the blink of an eye. I trust too easily but forgive slowly and with my whole heart. I'm a socially rebellious loner who craves the company of like-minds.

I'm in love with words - written, spoken or sung. Music is my passion and a big inspiration for me. If I have trouble saying it or writing it you can bet that most of the time whatever song I'm listening to has meaning behind it.

I've graduated from culinary school, hold a certificate in canine obedience, theory and application, and am now attending school for my BA in Creative Writing.

I have a cat named Tattoo and a kitten named Adora Zengazer.

I'm quirky, sarcastic and random.

I fight for equality, especially in the LGBT community and with animal rights. I'm a proud “Little Monster” and stand up for Lady GaGa and her message of self acceptance, peace, love, freedom, tolerance and unity. Paws Up!

My other Idols include Quentin Tarantino, Christopher Pike, Joan Jett, Anne Rice, and Joss Whedon.

-When did you know that you wanted to be a writer?
In like ninth or tenth grade I wanted to be a writer, but I never took it seriously. It's only in the past few years that I've decided that this is what I want to do with the rest of my life.

-What was the first story you ever wrote?
In tenth grade I had an assignment in my English/Lit class to write a single sentence properly using some vocabulary words. Well, I wrote a two page short story properly using the words. I guess in a sense it was sort of a cautionary tale. It was about a girl who sneaks out of the house one night to go meet her boyfriend to ride on his motorcycle. They were riding in the woods and hit a fallen log and got into a wreck. Her boyfriend died and she was pinned to the ground, still alive for a few days while wild animals ate her boyfriend. Then they started on her... It was extremely graphic and gross. My teacher loved it and she asked me to read it in class. I was horrified and refused so she read it in class. I was mortified. The class loved it and the next year a friend of mine tried to steal it and enter it into a writing contest under her name.

-What do you enjoy most about being a writer?
Bringing characters and worlds that I've created in my head to life in other people's imaginations.

-What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Character creation! I adore character creation.

-What part of the writing process do you like the least?
Revision. I find it difficult to let go of the inner editor and simply spew up word vomit. I often find myself making revisions as I go along because sometimes when I leave it for later I have trouble “getting back in the zone”.

-Do you have any sort of writing ritual?
 No, not currently.

-Do you prefer paper and ink or E-books?
Dead trees and ink. I love to collect things and I also love that new book smell!

-Name three writers who inspire you.

-Do you have a Muse?
I have many. I have an actual flesh & blood Muse (Who I will talk about next week) I would say though that music is my biggest Muse.
